BOYS SOCCER
North Hagerstown had two players selected to Maryland All-State teams as voted by coaches in the Maryland Association of Coaches of Soccer.
Senior Ryan Byard, who led North in scoring with 11 goals, was named to the second team. Garrett Singer was selected as an honorable mention.
Both players will participate in the All-State game on Nov. 19 at Walter Johnson High School in Bethesda.
BASEBALL
Hubs’ Britton signs with Salisbury
John Britton, a senior pitcher at North Hagerstown, has signed to play at Salisbury University, an NCAA Division III school.
Britton appeared in 10 games for the Hubs in the 2012 season and went 0-1 with three saves and a 2.00 earned run average.
WOMEN’S SOCCER
Three Rams make All-WVIAC
Three Shepherd University players have been named to the 2012 All-WVIAC teams.
Sophomore midfielder Kasey Canterbury earned first-team honors. She had three goals and three assists while starting all 18 games for the Rams.
Junior defender Erika Martin was a second-team choice, while junior forward Morgan Gabriel earned honorable mention. Gabriel scored four goals for Shepherd, including three game-winners.
BRIEF
Benefit soccer games set for Monday at Clear Spring
The “Kick’n it for a Cause” benefit soccer games for Washington County high school senior players will be held Monday at Clear Spring High School.
The girls will be play at 6 p.m., followed by the boys at 7:30.
Each game will be East vs. West.
The East will include players from Boonsboro, St. Maria Goretti, Smithsburg and South Hagerstown, while the West will include players from Clear Spring, Hancock, North Hagerstown and Williamsport.
Admission costs $4 for adults and $2 for students. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Shirley B. Robison Memorial Fund.
