GIRLS LACROSSE
Green signs with Shepherd
Boonsboro senior Alex Green has signed a letter of intent to play for Shepherd University, an NCAA Division II program which will play in the Mountain East Conference.
Green was one of the first athletes in the fledgling Boonsboro lacrosse program. She has played attack and midfield and has been a co-captain the past two seasons. In Boonsboro’s first varsity season last spring, Green was the Warriors’ No. 3 scorer and was a second team All-MVAL Antietam selection.
“It takes a special athlete to help start a lacrosse program at the high school level and finish her high school career being the first lacrosse athlete to sign a college commitment,” said Boonsboro coach Susan Funke. “Alex is an awesome player because she works hard, pays attention to detail and understands the meaning of team play. I can’t wait to see what she leaves on the field this spring.”
Green has been accepted into the honors program at Shepherd. She plans to major in psychology and minor in athletic training.
