GIRLS BASKETBALL

HANCOCK — Isabel Forsman had 16 points to lead Clear Spring to a 41-34 victory over Hancock on Thursday in the season opener for both teams.

Kristen Mellott and Sam Staley had seven points and seven rebounds each for the Blazers (1-0).

Alisha Shives had 10 points, Kara McKinley had eight points, including two 3-pointers, Sara Wagner had nine rebounds and Kristen Shoemaker had eight rebounds for the Panthers (0-1).

Tori Yoder had 15 points and Lydia Harris had 10 points for the Flames.

BOYS BASKETBALL

 Calvary 67, Highland View 62

Arthur Thomas had 25 points and 12 rebounds, but Highland View couldn’t keep Calvary off the foul line, leading to a loss.

The Tartans (2-4) battled behind Thomas and a man defense to take a 30-26 halftime lead, but came out flat in the third quarter to give it back.

Calvary, which finished with seven 3s, outscored Highland View 16-5 at the foul line to provide the margin of victory.

Point guard Justin Osoro finished with 16 points and 12 rebounds for the Tartans, while Luis Mendoza added nine points — all from 3-point range.
