WASHINGTON — Martin Geben had 22 points and 11 rebounds, but a slow start doomed St. Maria Goretti in a loss to National Christian in the DMV Elite Holiday Classic at Trinity University.
Isaiah Harris-Winn had 11 points and four rebounds for the Gaels (7-5).

Smithsburg places third
WORTON, Md. — Bryce Scott won the individual title at 182 pounds to help Smithsburg to a third-place finish Saturday at the Kent Holiday Tournament at Kent County High School.
Dalton Condo (170) and Travis Leopold (195) finished second in their weight classes, Dylan Bryce (113), Ryan Milligan (126) and Saul Herrera (285) were third, Ryan Alshire (132) was fourth, Mikaylah Murray (120) and Charlie Kokoski (220) placed fifth and Darian Kesler (160) finished sixth.
