BOYS BASKETBALL

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — Jordan Tosten had a game-high 19 points, including three 3-pointers, to lead Hancock to a 45-42 victory over Faith Christian Academy on Monday.

Hunter McKinley had 10 points, five rebounds and six steals, Noah Teeter had 10 rebounds and six steals, Logan Manning had eight rebounds, Chad Sipe had seven rebounds and Tosten added four steals for the Panthers (4-6).

Stephen Johnson had a team-high 16 points and six rebounds and Will Peifer had 11 rebounds and four steals for the Falcons (4-9).

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — Arthur Thomas had 26 points and 11 blocks for Highland View Academy in a win over Shalom Christian.

Hunter Sorensen hit four 3-pointers en route to 14 points and Justin Osoro had 11 points for the Tartans (7-4).

Alex Crilley had a game-high 28 points and Jeff McCracken had 10 points for Shalom (4-7).

ANNAPOLIS — Mercersburg Academy went back and forth with the U.S. Navy Plebes on Sunday before falling by four points.

Dre Wills scored 25 points for the Blue Storm (5-5) and Reggie Fiumano added 21. Wills had 56 points over two weekend games.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — Alisa Shives had 10 points, including two 3-pointers, to lead Hancock past Faith Christian Academy.

Kristen Shoemaker had nine points, eight assists and three steals, Kara McKinley had eight points, including two 3-pointers, and five steals and Sara Wagner had nine rebounds for the Panthers (10-5).

Amanda Deneseus had eight points and five rebounds and Ally Romine had four assists for the Falcons (7-4), who were outscored 18-6 in the fourth quarter.

ORBISONIA, Pa. — Ashley Roman had a double-double with 24 points and 12 rebounds to lead undefeated Southern Fulton in a rout of Southern Huntingdon (0-11).

Macey Hollenshead had 17 points, nine assists and five steals, Taelor Morton had 15 points, five assists and eight steals and Roman added six steals for the Indians (13-0).

Shepherd 113, Wheeling Jesuit 101

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. — Junior guard Brantley Osborne reached the 1,000-point mark for his career and scored a game-high 31 points to lead Shepherd (9-4, 6-3) to a WVIAC win over Wheeling Jesuit (6-7, 3-6).

Osborne’s nine 3-pointers tied the Shepherd single-game record, set by Chad Myers against West Liberty on Jan. 9, 2006.

Osborne’s now has 1,029 points for his career. He ranks 35th on the Shepherd all-time scoring list.

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. — Emily Daniel had 18 points and nine rebounds, while Gabby Flinchum had 16 points and a game-high 10 rebounds to lead Shepherd to a WVIAC win over Wheeling Jesuit (5-8, 2-7).

Alex Weakland had 14 points, while Rachel Johnson added 11 points and a game-high five assists for the Rams (5-8, 4-5).

Lewis scores hole-in-one

Timothy Lewis, 67, of Hagerstown, recently recorded the first hole-in-one of his career, scoring an ace at Raspberry Falls in Leesburg, Va.

Lewis aced the 155-yard, par-3, sixth hole with a 9-wood. The shot was witnessed by Kevin Fuller and Richard Lesh.


BOWLING

Southside results

On Sunday, Southside Bowl held its annual Youth/Adult Handicap KOH for any USBC members, with youth bowler Alexus Wyand and her adult partner, Casey Kindle, capturing top honors. 

After a field of 24 teams competed in four qualifying games, the top five teams competed in a stepladder format. 

Wyand and Kindle, seeded third, defeated fourth-seeded Adam Baer (youth) and Phil Feeser (adult) and fifth-seeded Jacob Souders (youth) and Jimmy Souders (adult) 474-365-415. Wyand and Kindle then defeated second-seeded Kenny Blake (youth) and Wayne Burkhart (adult) 442-428, and then went on to top first-seeded Alston Timbrook (youth) and Chuck Timbrook (adult) 464-414.

In other recent action:

In the Daryl Moats Commercial League, Tony Davenport bowled a 777 series, earning a $50 house award for a 775+ series and 150 pins over his 204 average award.

Also in the Daryl Moats Commercial League, Greg Kroboth bowled a 300 game, earning a $100 house award along with a plaque. Randy Bodine bowled a 752 series, earning a $25 house award for bowling 150 pins over his 196 average. And Ryan Harbaugh bowled a 300 game, earning a $100 house award along with a plaque.

In the Tuesday Night Mixed League, George Gipe bowled a 710 series, earning a $25 house award for bowling 150 pins over his 169 average.

In the Friday Night Mixed League, Megan Mitchell bowled a 268 game and a 725 series, earning $100 along with a plaque for bowling a 265+ game, a 700+ series and 150 pins over her 188 average.

Hagerstown Area Church Softball meeting set for Jan. 31

The Hagerstown Area Church Softball league will hold an organizational meeting on Jan. 31 at 7 p.m. at Tri-State Fellowship, located at 13153 Cearfoss Pike in Hagerstown.

Any church interested in fielding a team for the 2013 season should attend. All games are played at the Hagerstown Fairgrounds Softball Complex.
