BOYS BASKETBALL

WASHINGTON — Saint James pulled off an upset in the Mid-Atlantic Conference on Tuesday night with a stunning 60-58 victory over Sidwell Friends.

Coming off a disappointing loss Friday at Flint Hill, the Saints regrouped to stun the Quakers, who had owned a victory over Gonzaga earlier this year and played touted Mount St. Joseph to within four points.

“We should never have lost to Flint Hill, but we challenged the kids to work hard and refocused,” said Saint James coach Paul Easton.

The Saints came back from a 33-30 halftime deficit and led by eight points with just over three minutes remaining before holding off the Quakers, who were led by Josh Hart’s 21 points.

Obi Enechionyia, playing on a slightly sprained ankle, led the Saints with 25 points, 13 rebounds and six blocks and hit 7 of 10 from the line. Sherman Harris added 11 points, six assists and five rebounds and A.J. Carr scored 10 points.

The Quakers suffered only their fourth loss in 19 games while the Saints (7-9, 2-2) stopped a two-game losing streak.
