South girls top Martinsburg 61-43

GIRLS BASKETBALL

ROMNEY, W.Va. — Chelsey Scott scored a game-high 19 points to lead South Hagerstown to a 61-43 victory over Martinsburg at the Hampshire Holiday Tournament on Friday.

Katrice Dickson added 10 points for the Rebels (6-2).

South, which trailed 28-27 at halftime, outscored Martinsburg 13-6 in the third quarter and 21-9 in the fourth.

Essence Underwood had 14 points, while Kiana Bullett scored 12 and Alexus Bonner added 10 for the Bulldogs (4-2).

The Rebels will face host Hampshire in the championship game today at 3 p.m. Martinsburg will play Buckhannon-Upshur in the consolation game.

Clear Spring 35, Hancock 30

HANCOCK — Isabel Forsman scored six of her team-high 10 points in the first quarter as Clear Spring established a lead and held on for a victory in the nightcap of the Hancock Holiday Classic.

Clear Spring advances to face Southern Fulton in Saturday’s scheduled championship game at 6 p.m. Hancock faces Broadfording Christian at 4 in the consolation game.

The Blazers (3-3) took an 11-5 lead in the first period and maintained the advantage while weathering Hancock’s comeback efforts. The Panthers hurt themselves by hitting just 5 of 14 free throws.

Alisha Shives led Hancock (4-4) with 14 points, while Sara Wagner added eight points and 11 rebounds.

Southern Fulton 87, Broadfording 28

HANCOCK — Taelor Morton scored 19 points and three steals and Macey Hollenshead had a triple-double with 14 points, 20 assists and 10 steals as undefeated Southern Fulton cruised past Broadfording Christian Academy at the Hancock Holiday Tournament.

Allison Spade had 14 points for the Indians (7-0), while Ashley Roman had 12 points, Kayla Chilcote had eight points and six rebounds and Morgan Strait added six rebounds in the victory.

Broadfording (1-6) was led by Jade Boone, who scored 25 of the Lions’ 28 points.

EVERETT, Pa. — Kristyn Davis scored a game-high 16 points to go along with four steals for Boonsboro as the Warriors advanced to the championship game of the Everett Holiday Tournament with a win over Northern Bedford (3-3).

Tiffanie Bowman had nine points, three steals and two blocks for Boonsboro (4-2), while Claudia Jenkins had eight points, six rebounds and four steals, Shannon O’Brien had a team-high seven rebounds and Jordan Bingaman added six rebounds.

Hope Gayle had 11 points for the Eagles (5-4), while Bianca Creamer had 10 points and seven assists and Alexis Taylor had a team-high seven rebounds to go along with eight points.

Alicia Noble had 22 points to lead R.C. Byrd (5-2).

CUMBERLAND, Md. — St. Maria Goretti finished 2-for-2 in the Fort Hill Holiday Classic after a victory over Fort Hill on Friday.

Toby Christensen hit a pair of 3-pointers and led the Gaels (10-5) with a career-high 16 points, along with seven rebounds.

Tyrus Fleetwood had 17 points, Isaiah Harris-Winn scored 15 and Martin Geben had 10 points and seven rebounds. Ryan Grant contributed seven assists.

GETTYSBURG, Pa. — Chambersburg had a rousing fourth quarter at both ends of the floor that led to a victory over Delone Catholic and the Gettysburg Holiday Tournament championship.

Mitch Stahl had a pair of slam dunks on breakaway steals and the Trojans revved up the defense, allowing Delone only eight points.

Kellen Williams led Chambersburg (6-3) with 20 points and Stahl was right behind with 19. Evason Ogbonna had 11 points.

Fred Slater had 12 points, eight rebounds and six assists for the Saints (4-7), while A.J. Carr had 11 points and four assists and Nnamdi Enechionyia had nine points and six rebounds in the victory.
