Three public contestants and one press staffer went a perfect 5-0 in the Beat the Press Wild Card Weekend to clinch a spot in the next round of the playoffs.
Carlos Flores, Steve Alsip, Carlos Nava and Ross Rodriguez all went a perfect 5-0.
A multitude of participants went 4-1 and a few went 1-4, leaving them out of the playoffs. To those that have been eliminated, thank you for participating and we hope to see you again next year.
Per tiebreaker rules, Rodriguez gets the No. 5 seed, Alsip is No. 6, Nava No. 7 and Flores No. 8.
The playoffs now move to a head-to-head competition with No. 1 Michael Dukes taking on Flores, No. 2 Mario Renteria taking on Nava, No. 3 William C. Collins facing Alsip and No. 4 Ernie Hernandez facing Rodriguez.
Everyone will send in their picks on the NFL divisional playoffs, which is four games: Baltimore Ravens at Denver Broncos, Green Bay Packers at San Francisco 49ers, Seattle Seahawks at Atlanta Falcons and the Houston Texans at the New England Patriots.
The Green Bay-San Francisco game is the tiebreaker so make sure to pay close attention to that score.
Deadline to turn in picks is 5 p.m. by emailing them to mrenteria@ivpressonline.com Friday. All picks, including staffers’, will publish in Saturday’s edition.
