Okay, the first two weeks have been fun and although they all the same in the points this is the most important race of the season so far when it comes to determining a champion. Why Vegas you ask? Well with so many of the tracks being the intermediate kinds of speedways, like Vegas, we will really get a sense of who has come to play this season.
That is, if the best drivers can stay out of the wreckage. So many good drivers have been caught up in the business, there are good drovers (like Clint Bowyer, Kevin Harvick, Jeff Burton Matt Kenseth and Greg Biffle) mired between 20-42 in the points. So what happens this weekend could set the ton for alot of big time race teams for the rest of the season.
And the driving with panic attitude that seems to have taken over NASCAR this season is only likely to get worse with each race. After all, points are going to just get harder to make up as the year goes by. Take Bowyer. He's only 35 points back in the standings. But not only would he have to make up 35 possitions on the track, he would also have to finish better than the 20 drivers that stand between him and first in the points.
So the last time NASCAR was in Vegas, the Dominator (that's Jimmie Johnson) took checkerds. And he would certainly be a favorite with 4 career victories at this track. Hometown boy Kyle Busch is also pretty good at this track. Matt Kenseth and Jeff Burton also have a pair of wins in Vegas.
