An 8th-grade quarterback from San Diego has committed to the University of Washington, reports Bob Condotta in the Seattle Times.

Tate Martell, who is entering the 8th grade, is a pupil of quarterback coach Steve Clarkson, Condotta writes. Clarkson was University of Washington coach Steve Sarkisian's quarterback coach once upon a time, and has also worked with USC's Matt Barkley and ex-Husky Nick Montana.

Condotta passes along that Martell is listed at 5 feet, 11 inches tall and 180 pounds. He would be the youngest recruit in Division I football since 2010, when USC received a commitment from a similarly young quarterback, David Still
