Recruiting Buzz: Chester Brown, a 6-foot-5, 340-pound offensive lineman, was reportedly so passionate about his commitment to Georgia in July, he had the date of his commitment tattooed on his arm. However, an immigration issue opened the door for UCF to move in on the promising recruit coach George O¿Leary and his staff plan to use on the defensive line. A new Georgia board of regents policy required all incoming students to verify their status as United State citizens. Georgia media outlets reported they were told by sources Brown was born in the United States, but his Samoan-born parents could not provide the proper documentation to the Georgia admissions office. The Orlando Sentinel confirmed Brown committed to UCF. In a interview with UCFSports.com, the Knights¿ Rivals.com affiliate, Brown said he loved his visit to UCF and was firmly committed to the Knights despite a last-minute wave of offers from ACC and SEC programs in the final weekend before National Signing Day. Brown¿s high school coach initially told the Atlanta Journal Constitution Sunday he wasn¿t sure the lineman would be ready to pick a school on signing day, but he later stated Brown informed he was firmly committed to the Knights. UCF sees the potential for Brown to follow in the footsteps of Torell Troup, dropping weight to become a formidable force on the defensive line. In addition to UCF and Georgia, Brown held offers from Georgia State, Houston, Marshall, Middle Tennessee State, South Alabama and Southern Miss.
