Sophomore guard Kerby Tamm recorded 15 points, forced two turnovers and grabbed one rebound for the Central Michigan University women’s basketball team during a non-league win over South Dakota State University, 88-62.
Tamm, a 2011 Petoskey grad, was making her first start in four appearances for the Chippewas and scored a season high in points.
CMU is 2-2 overall.
— Freshman guard Jake Mullin scored a game-high 15 points to lead Lawrence Tech to the program’s first win, 64-61, over Northwestern Ohio. Mullin, a 2012 Petoskey High School graduate, was 4-of-6 from 3-point range as the Blue Devils improve to 1-6 overall and 1-1 in the Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference.
Lawrence Tech goes to Marygrove College on Wednesday, Nov. 28.
— Sophomore center Jasmine Hines scored nine points and collected four rebounds in 20 minutes of playing time for the Michigan State University women’s basketball team during a win over Robert Morris (Ill.) University, 68-35.
Hines, a Central Lake grad, has played in all five games for the Spartans scoring 54 points, grabbing 25 rebounds, and blocking three shots.
Michigan State is 5-0 overall.
— Freshman forward Zak Lewis scored a career-high 10 points as Madonna University improved to 2-0 in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play with a 92-42 win over Marygrove College.
Lewis, a 2012 Petoskey High School graduate, was 4-of-5 from the floor including a pair of 3-pointers. In 16 minutes played, Lewis also added a steal, assist and rebound.
The Crusaders are 5-2 overall, 2-0 league and travel to Lourdes University on Wednesday, Nov. 28.
— Tanner McCune, a 2012 Boyne City grad, led the Oakland Community College women’s basketball team with 16 points and 12 rebounds during a win over Muskegon Community College, 54-51.
