Pasadena 8, Glendale 1: Senior Patrick Saucedo struck out six over five innings in his first pitching appearance of the season in helping lead the Bulldogs to a Pacific League-opening home victory Friday afternoon.
Bulldogs senior Brian Blackburn was two for four with a homer and three RBI, while Calvin Christiansen, Alex Baer and Sergio Rey all collected two hits for Pasadena (4-3).
Valley Christian 13, Maranatha 0: The Minutemen fell behind 6-0 after one inning and lost in Friday evening’s Olympic League opener at Jackie Robinson Field.
Maranatha dropped to 3-4 overall and 0-1 in league.

San Marino 18, South Pasadena 0: The Titans rolled in the Rio Hondo League opener for both teams on Friday afternoon at South Pasadena.
Perhaps the best set was between South Pasadena singles Jason Wang and San Marino’s James Wade, who outlasted Wang, 6-4.
With the win, San Marino improved to 6-0 and 1-0, while South Pasadena dropped to 2-3, 0-1.
SOFTBALL
San Marino 10, South Pasadena 0: It was an all-around brilliant effort for the Titans and hurler Michelle Floyd in a Rio Hondo League-opening road victory Friday afternoon.
Floyd was two for four with a homer and three RBI, while she fanned 15 batters and tossed a one-hitter.
Erin Stenwell was two for three with two RBI and a run scored, while Jamie Fadley scored two runs, Allison Lee drove in a run while scoring two runs and Caitlyn Callahan cored and drove home a run for the Titans (9-1, 1-0).
South Pasadena dropped to 1-3, 0-1.
Pasadena Poly 3, Crean Lutheran 0: Pitcher Alex Clark struck out eight batters and allowed one hit in a nonleague home victory Friday afternoon.
Natalie Edwards doubled and Olivia Treister tripled for Poly (2-2).

La Salle in Rosemead Distance Carnival: All-Area Cross-Country Runner of the Year Daniel De La Torre shined in Friday’s evening’s Rosemead Distance Carnival.
The UCLA-bound senior cruised to a victory in the 3000-meter run in 8 minutes, 53.83 seconds.
GIRLS’ TRACK AND FIELD
La Salle in Rosemead Distance Carnival: The Lancers 4x800-meter relay team of Tracy Cresta (2:30.12), Mare Crowley (2:30.18), Bettina Lee (2:29.10) and Abby Marich (2:29.57) won the event at Friday evening’s meet.
The foursome won its event by 50 meters with an overall time of 9:59.04.
