BLACKSBURG, Va.—
The Hokies' spring game is Saturday, and one of the question marks for Frank Beamer's crew this coming season is the offensive line, which lost four, 2-year starters. But one of the players the Hokies will look to on the line is redshirt junior David Wang, who is expected to be this year's starter at left guard.
Wang was voted the most improved offensive player in last year's spring practice, but a potential break-out 2011 season was cut short when he suffered a broken foot in the second game of the season, causing him to miss the rest of the season.
With a clean bill of health, Wang is ready to get back out there and make an impact on the field.
"It's been since September since I had my injury so it's a great feeling to be back on the field with everybody and just have some friendship time on the field with everybody else," Wang said. "We lost some great kids. Greg, James, Blake and Lanier. They're like my best friends here and I used to hang out with them all the time. It's a heartbreak to lose those close guys but we have Vince, Nick Becton and Andrew Miller and then a new kid, Brent. I feel like last year we were all second string pretty much so we all kind of gelled last year and it's kind of just like bringing it forward to the front of the lines now that the older kids are gone."
