MARTINSVILLE, Va.—Race weekend is upon us, and for the better part of the last decade, Hendrick Motorsports drivers have been the kings of Martinsville.
And they had a strong showing during a practice session Friday for the Goody's Fast Relief 500.
Hendrick teammates Dale Earnhardt Jr., Kasey Kahne and Jeff Gordon all finished in the top 10. Gordon was the only driver to post a speed over 97 mph in both.
Kevin Harvick had the fastest time in the first practice session for the Kroger 250.
Todd Bodine, Justin Lofton and Nelson Piquet Jr. also posted top-10 speeds in both sessions. Piquet had the fastest time in the final practice session with a speed of 95.022.
Gates open at 9 a.m. Saturday for the Kroger 250, with qualifying at 10:05 a.m. Qualifying for Sprint Cup starts at 11:40 a.m.
