Posters for a blood drive held in honor of Indianapolis Colts head coach Chuck Pagano are already decorating the walls of the Indiana Blood Center Monday.
In an effort to raise awareness for leukemia research, the Colts teamed up with the blood center as part of the CHUCKSTRONG campaign.
Fans are encouraged to show their support for the 52-year-old coach, who was recently diagnosed with acute promyelocytic leukemia, a highly treatable form of the disease.
Officials at the blood center said blood donations can help restore strength in cancer patients after a chemotherapy treatment. In treating APML, plasma from volunteer donors may also be transfused.
Those who wish to donate can do so at any of the nine donor centers beginning tomorrow until Oct. 13. Throughout the five days, the center will provide cards for donors to write a personal message to Coach Pagano. Donors will also receive “In Honor of Coach Pagano” stickers.
