Tour No. 5: Jalapeno Cheese
1147 Edward Avenue in Salisbury Township, a house on Bill White's Christmas Lights Tour. (Ed Landrock/The Morning Call / December 15, 2006)
Keep going to the end of Edward, turn right and return to Lincoln, where you'll turn right. Make a right at Cedar Crest and get onto 309 south. Get off at Lehigh Street and head north toward Allentown. Past Bicentennial Park, turn right on Fountain to see 1224 on your right. Roll your window down; Santa Claus sings.
Continue on Fountain and turn left on Juniata, right on Mack, left on Dixon, right on Delaware and left on Baker. Then turn left at Idaho and follow to 1921 S. Idaho. It's decorated down the side and around the back, so if you can park and walk along the alley, check it out. Turn left at Mohawk -- you'll pass the site of the recent gas explosion -- left on Delaware, right on Baker, left on S. Eighth and left on Emmaus Avenue.
Turn left on S. Sixth for a terrific display at 2028-2030 S. Sixth. Continue on Sixth and turn left on Mohawk, left on Virginia, right on Sixth -- pause to admire the house across from you on Emmaus Avenue -- and turn left.
At S. Fourth Street, turn right and go up the mountain. When you hit the light at West Rock Road, turn right and continue to Woodland Hills Drive for the house at the corner. I particularly admired the lit Nativity scene.
Back down S. Fourth onto Route 309 south, past Saucon Valley Road. Make a left at E. Hopewell to see 3894 on your right. Then turn around and head north on 309 to Saucon Valley Road, where you'll turn right. Past the golf course, make a right to continue on Saucon Valley. At 378, turn right. Just after you pass over the Saucon Creek bridge, make a left on Spring Valley. Keep going until you hit Augusta; turn right. Cruise through this neighborhood of elegant homes all along Augusta, then turn left at Ballyburn, turn around at the cul de sac and drive to the corner of Ballyburn and Spyglass Hill. Turn around again, bear left on Augusta and right onto Turnberry to see 2150 high on the cul de sac.
As you head north on 378, follow the Star of Bethlehem.
