Blood Drive: Area residents are invited to be life-savers at the upcoming Kentucky Blood Center blood drive.

A blood drive will be noon-4:30 p.m. Oct. 3 at the Boyle County Public Library in the Heart of Danville Community Room at 307 W. Broadway.

Blood donors must have photo identification, be 17-years-old (16 with parental consent}, weigh at least 110 pounds, be in general good health and meet additional requirements. Sixteen-year-old donors must have a signed parental permission slip, which can be found at kybloodcenter.org.

Classes

The Basics: Memory Loss, Dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease — 2-4 p.m. Oct. 15 at the Scott County Public Library, 104 S. Bradford Lane, Georgetown. To register, call 1-800-272-3900 or e-mail infoky-in@alz.org. Registration is required. Or  9:30-11:30 a.m. Oct. 24 at the Franklin County Cooperative Extension Office, 101 Lakeview Court, Frankfort. The program is for those who have a loved one newly diagnosed, or want to learn more about Alzheimer’s disease. Body Recall  — 9-10 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays through Nov. 16 at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), 555 E. Lexington Ave., Danville. Helps regain mobility, strength, energy and flexibility. Exercise for all ages. Exercises are done in a chair and with a chair. The exercises are also great for breast cancer recovery, heart patients, diabetics, arthritis, strokes and knee and hip replacements. Danville-Boyle County Adult Education Learning Center — Open 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday through Thursday at 1714 Perryville Road, Danville Square Suites, 112 (next to Big Lots). Mercer County Adult Education — Free GED preparation, workplace soft-skill training, basic computer training and other instruction based on needs of participant.
