Our featured pets this week are Ruth and Sassy. Ruth is a pretty, black and white adult cat. She has a perfect white stripe on her forehead and white mittens on her feet. Ruth is very loving and has a laid-back personality. Not much fazes this girl. She shares the kitty condo with other cats and gets along fine. Ruth is spayed and eager for a home of her own. Do you have room in your home for a sweet kitty that enjoys her naptime and will make a great companion?
Sassy is a lively and fun pit bull mix. She’s 3 years old and weighs about 40 pounds. Sassy was brought to the humane society when her owner was no longer able to care for her. Sassy does well with other dogs and is outgoing with people, she hasn’t met a stranger. Sassy would make a great jogging buddy. She’s spayed and ready to work her way into your heart.

Storm season will soon be upon us. Along with a disaster plan for the family, it’s important to have a disaster plan for your pet. Here are several simple steps you can take to help protect your pet. ID your pet with tags and microchip and have several photos for identification. Pack a pet emergency kit with basic first aid, pet food, clean water and copies of your pet’s health records. Have leashes or harnesses and pet carrier ready in case you need to evacuate quickly. Pets do so much to enrich our lives and in return they depend on us for their safety and well-being.
