How the Bluebird Made a Pizza puppet show — 6 p.m today, enjoy a family puppet show at the library about a bluebird, lizard, rhinoceros and a dog.
Gaming 4U — 3:30 p.m .Wednesday, Wii gaming at the library for teens ages 12 to 18.
Heart health and nutrition class — 3 p.m. Thursday,  Tonya Watkins of the Garrard County Health Department, will teach the basics about heart health care and nutrition.
The library also is sponsoring a Community Young Adult Literacy event at Garrard County High School on Thursday. Author Sharon Draper will visit in the morning and afternoon. Draper is the author of several acclaimed novels for teens including “Romiette and Julio”, “Copper Sun” and “The Battle of Jericho.” Other sponsors of the reading event are Central Kentucky Federal Savings Bank, Farmers National Bank, First Southern National Bank, Whitaker Bank, Garrard County High School, Garrard County Youth Services Center and the Jesse Stuart Local Reading Council.

Feeding, health fair planned Saturday

Community Feeding/Health Fair will be 4-6:30 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, 200 W. Walnut St. The event is hosted by the First Baptist Church Music Ministry in collaboration with Ephraim McDowell Medical Center. It will include a free spaghetti dinner, and free screening for blood pressure, blood sugar, blood cholesterol and BMI. Private consultations will be held for those at risk. Concealed carry class offered

A Concealed Carry class will be from 9 a.m. to completion Saturday. The class is offered by the state department of Criminal Justice Training. For more information and availability of classes, call (859) 332-7728 or (859) 583-5716. Jimmy Elliott is the instructor.

Family fun program planned

An hour-long program titled “Family Fun Mealtime” will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Boyle County Extension office.
Boyle County FCS Agent Natasha Saunders will help families find ways to make family mealtime possible by demonstrating how to cook once and eat twice, cook meals with five or less ingredients, use make ahead meals, and plan meals in advance. The program is open to the public and there is no charge to attend.

Boyle County Board of Health — 5:15 p.m. today at the Boyle County Health Department, 448 S. Third St.
Danville-Boyle County Recreation Commission — 4 p.m. Wednesday in the Boyle County Fiscal Courtroom. The agenda includes: 2011 baseball fees; 12th region tournament; memorial trees for past board chairman’s family members; 2011-12 operations budget; board member recommendation; and road concerns.
