Basketball league set to begin in January
The Wilderness Trace Family YMCA will start a Teen Basketball League Jan. 5.
Registration deadline is Saturday. There also will be a mandatory clinic at the YMCA for team placement at 10 a.m. Saturday.
Division I is 12- to 15-year-olds; Division II is 16- to 18-year-olds.
Program fee is $40 and the YMCA membership is $20.
Practices will be at the YMCA and games will be at Harrodsburg Intermediate School.

Operation Christmas Child under way
The national collection week for Operation Christmas Child is today through Nov. 19. Pleasant View Baptist Church in Waynesburg again will act as a relay center for shoe box collection in Lincoln County.
The church will be open for collection 9 a.m.-3 p.m. today through Friday; 9 a.m.-noon Saturday; 1-3 p.m. Sunday; and 9-10 a.m. Nov. 19.
Donations need to be made during these hours only because boxes must be transported to the collection center Nov. 19.

Dazzling Dribblers program to start
This year’s Dazzling Dribblers program will be 3:45-4:30 p.m. beginning Nov. 19 at Toliver Elementary School gymnasium. It will continue each Monday at the same time.
The Dazzling Dribblers program is offered to boys and girls who are in first through fifth grades.
The program is non-competitive, teaching participants the fundamental skills of basketball and basketball handling skills at each individual’s own pace. Team members perform the skills learned during half-time at area basketball games.
The cost to participate is $40, which includes a basketball, T-shirt and shorts. The cost is $35 for a second and third child in the same family.

Basic computer skills class — 1 p.m. Friday, learn basic computer skills at this free class presented by the Garrard County Public Library Workforce Center. Improve your job skills by improving your computer skills. Public Library Workforce Centers are made possible by an American Reinvestment and Recovery Act.
