Joseph Andrew Herndon, 20, of Danville, died Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012. Born Oct. 5, 1991, he was the son of Sean and Sherri Moore Herndon.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a son, Sean Charles Herndon; two brothers, Jacob Paul Herndon and Micah James Herndon, both of Danville; a sister, Sarah Elizabeth (Stephen) Wechman of Louisville; grandparents Pomeroy and Nelda Ann Moore of Gadsden, Ala.; and grandmother, Carol Herndon of Anaheim, Calf.
A funeral service will be held 1 p.m., Monday at Stith Funeral Home and Family Center, Junction City. Visitation will be after 4 p.m., Sunday at Stith Funeral Home, Danville. An online guestbook is available at www.stithfuneralhome.net.

Fred Holland
1919-2012
Frederick Hugh Holland, 92, husband of Margaret Sharpton Holland, died Thursday, Jan. 19, 2012.
Born Dec. 13, 1919, in Gadsden, Ala., he was the son of the late Burl Camp Holland and Margaret Barron Holland. He served in MacArthur’s 3rd Army in the South Pacific in WWII, earning a Bronze Star.
Other survivors include his two daughters, Kathryn (Jay) Holland Shewmaker and Frieda (Mark) Holland Gebert; four grandchildren, Olivia Shewmaker, Erin Shewmaker Hughes, Phillip Carlisle, and Morgan Gebert; and one great-grandchild, Ansley Grace Hughes.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Jan.22 at Harrodsburg United Methodist Church.
Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Saturday at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel and after 2 p.m. Sunday at the church.
Memorials may be sent to the Music Ministry of the Harrodsburg United Methodist Church.

1929 - 2012
Melvin L. Jarvis, 82, of Lapel, Ind. died Jan. 18, 2012 at Community Hospital after an extended illness.
Born Sept. 4, 1929 in Garrard County, Ky. he was a son of the late Wilbur Finch and Elsie Frances (Bates) Jarvis.
He worked production at Delco Remy 34 years before retiring in February of 1987.
He attended North Anderson and Madison Park Church of God where he was an usher for over 50 years. He also was an usher for Church of God Camp Meeting.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years Mary (Toney) Jarvis of Lapel whom he married January 1, 1950 in Alum Springs, Ky.; son Dwight “Harrison” Jarvis of Loveland, Colorado; daughter Connie A. Espinoza of Somerset, Texas; two sisters Louise (Jim) Pickens of Anderson, Ind., and Elsie Ruth Warmoth of Winner, S.D.; three grandchildren Candida (Len) Schendel, Carmela (Felix Bergara) Espinoza, and David Jarvis; three great-grandchildren Fabian Bergara, Caleb Schendel and Briseis Bergara and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by three sisters Lorene Hughes, Elizabeth Davidson; Alvena Van Norman; and his brother Henry T. Jarvis.
Services will be Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012 at 3p.m. at Madison Park Church of God with Rev. Jim Lyon and Dr. Kerry Robinson officiating. Burial will be in East Maplewood Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Saturday at the church from 2-3 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be given to Madison Park Church of God.
