PERRYVILLE — Arthur Samuel Johnson, 75, of Perryville died Friday, Jan. 13, 2012, in Danville. He was the husband of Mattie Warner Johnson.
Born April 7, 1936, in Boyle County, he was a son of the late William C. and Annie Mae Mundy Johnson.
Sammy was a mason, having worked with Bradley and Gibson Masonry. He was a member of the First Baptist Church where he was a trustee and also sang with the brotherhood. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, and he loved working in his garden.
Sammy was known as a great storyteller. He made daily trips to Whitehouse Auto Parts in Perryville and to Tony Webb’s auto repair in Washington County to share his stories. Also surviving is a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he also was preceded in death by a sister, Christine Osbourn and a brother, Henry “Chuck” Johnson.
