Obituary: Naomi Green (November 28, 2012)

HARRODSBURG — It is with great sorrow, the family announces the passing of Naomi Francis Pierce Green on Nov. 12, 2012. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at Carolina’s Medical Center in Charlotte, N.C.


Born March 7, 1933, in Burgin, Ky., Naomi was a devoted and caring wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and sister. Her life was a celebration of all that is good in people. She was a 1950 graduate of Burgin High School. She married Edwin Harrison Green in 1950 and together they raised four boys and settled in Charlotte, N.C.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Harrison Green: her parents, Herman and Nellie Pierce; and her brother, Kenneth Pierce.

She is survived by four sons, Edwin Harrison Green Jr. and his wife Gail, of Tacoma, Wash., Herman Ray Green of Charlotte, N.C., Howard Lee Green of Charlotte, N.C., and Michael Thomas Green and his wife Tara of Matthews, N.C.; five grandchildren, Joshua, Moriah, Katelynn, Harrison and Jesse; a sister, Jackie Pierce Foster and her husband Tom of Shelbyville, Ky.; a brother Dennis “Butch” Pierce and his wife Janet of Danville; and sister-in-law, Helen Pierce of California.


Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, at Burgin Baptist Church, and burial will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery in Harrodsburg.


Visitation was held at Harry and Bryant Funeral Home Nov. 14 in Charlotte, N.C.
