Richard William Born, 60, passed away Friday, Sept. 7, 2012.
Rich was born on Friday, April 18, 1952, in Freeport, Ill. He was the son of the late Harold W. and May B. Kozel Born.
Rich attended Indian Hills Christian Church. Previously, he served as a deacon at the Danville Presbyterian Church. Rich was an avid golfer and enjoyed taking trips with friends to play different courses. He was a member of the Men’s Golf League at Centenary United Methodist Church and a member of the local Kiwanis Club, where he was a past president and Kiwanian of the Year.
He loved to read, and each year he would read “The Christmas Story” to children at the Kiwanis Christmas party.
He also enjoyed following sports, including the University of Kentucky, University of Iowa, the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Cubs.
He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Barbara Stanley Born; a daughter, Heather Kathryn Born of Danville; a brother, Charles W. (Ann) Born of Freeport, Ill.; a sister, Barbara Born Cole of Boulder, Colo.; a nephew, Clinton; three nieces, Allison, Kimberly and Bonnie; a great-niece, Zoe; three sisters-in-law, Brenda (Benny) Long, Linda (Michael) Stanley and Kathy (James) Steele; as well as five brothers-in-law, Danny (Pattie) Stanley, Ronald (Gaye) Stanley, Jimmie Stanley, Michael (Anna) Stanley and Rick (Misty) Stanley.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2012, at Indian Hills Christian Church with Pastor Odis Clark officiating. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012, at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home.
