The Lincoln County girls improved to 10-0 against 12th Region opponents with a 57-53 victory over Somerset on Monday night at Stanford.

Emily Fox scored 25 points to lead Lincoln (16-7), which opened a 20-3 lead over Somerset (10-11) in the first quarter and never lost it.

Somerset closed the gap in the second quarter, pulling within 30-20 at halftime, then made a run during a close second half that the Patriots were able to withstand.

Kourtney Belcher scored 20 points for Lincoln.

Cassie Bray led Somerset with 15 points.

West Jessamine 78, Burgin 66 — At Nicholasville, West Jessamine (14-9, 3-1 46th District) bombed Burgin (15-6, 1-2) from behind the 3-point line, sinking 12 shots from outside the arc to hand the Bulldogs their second loss in three days.

Eight different players hit 3s for the Colts, some of which came in the third quarter during an 11-0 run that extended their lead from 52-51 to 63-51 and that Burgin could not overcome.

Travis McEachern scored 21 points and Alex Beckerson added 19 for the Bulldogs, who shot 49 percent from the field and hit three of seven 3-point shots. Beckerson had nine rebounds, McEachern had four assists and Austin Shewmaker had three steals.

Burgin led 17-15 after one quarter. West Jessamine rallied to take a nine-point lead in the second quarter, but the Bulldogs cut the margin to four before halftime.

Daulton Peters scored a game-high 26 points for West Jessamine.
