  1. Orlando Fringe review: 'The SAK Factor'

Longtime Orlando improv institution the SAK Comedy Lab puts its own twist on “Family Feud” and Trivial Pursuit with “The SAK Factor.” SAK's David Russell, the game show's wacky host,  didn't kiss the contestants like Richard Dawson on “Family Feud” -- but wore a wig and resembled Stanley Tucci's character Caesar Flickerman in “The Hunger Games.”

  3. Orlando Fringe review: 'Blessings'

Empowering women with karate is Rake Theater & the Movement's mission in “Blessings.” The production asked women in videotaped interviews about the last time they felt strong. The videos were showcased on a black, brick wall -- and were difficult to watch without a screen. (The Green venue had a screen but it appeared to be too small for the projection.) The amateurish videos also had a lot of background noise.

  5. Orlando Fringe review: 'Skill Focus: Burlesque Does Fringe'

Fishnets meet funny bones in “Skill Focus: Burlesques Does Fringe.”
Fishnets meet funny bones in “Skill Focus: Burlesques Does Fringe.” I wouldn’t call it tongue in cheek, but there are laughs and light moments --  and the entertainers, who teasingly peel off clothing bit by bit, appear to have a good...

  7. Orlando Fringe review: 'Menage a Prov'

Straight-up short-form improv comedy isn’t quite as prevalent at Fringe as it was last year, but that’s good news for this trio of SAK Comedy Lab veterans. With a diverse grab bag of imaginative games, these guys may be able to deliver all the off-the-cuff yuks you need.

Orlando Youth Theatre returns to Fringe with its cabaret "Best of the Fest," featuring an array of musical numbers from the “Very Potter Musical,” “Chicago,” “Rock of Ages,” “Hairspray” and other Broadway shows.

  13. Orlando Fringe review: 'A Long Time Ago: The Eighties Strike Back'

Teenagers and mutants, ninjas and turtles. Parachutes and pants. Like a lot of fads from the decade that inspired it, “A Long Time Ago: The Eighties Strike Back” succeeds – when it does – by throwing a lot of cool things in a blender and creating something completely new. (Or at least colorful.)

  15. Orlando Fringe review: 'Kirikou and the Sorceress'

The story of Kirikou begins traditionally: "A long time ago...," a narrator intones. But things quickly take an ominous turn. "The people lived in fear," she says. "Their men were disappearing one by one."

  17. Orlando Fringe review: 'Dirk Darrow NCSSI (Not Completely Serious Supernatural Investigator)'

It's a magic show. Wait, it's a comedy routine. Oh no, it's a mystery. I guess it's all of those things, but whatever you call it, it's consistently entertaining.

  19. Orlando Fringe review: 'James Judd's Funny Stories'

James Judd has regaled Fringegoers before with his personal travails, whether battling weight issues ("Fat Camp" or hooked on soap operas ("7 Sins"). He's back with "James Judd's Funny Stories," and though the title doesn't lie -- the stories are filled with his observational humor -- they don't quite have the snap of his previous efforts. The biggest flaw -- with the exception of the last of his four tales, the strongest -- is that none builds to a satisfying end.

  21. Orlando Fringe review: 'Madame PeeVira: Dark Lady'

Bizarre situations and characters abound in Dulce Art Works Inc.’s “Madame PeeVira: Dark Lady.” The zany production is inspired by Cher’s classic, ‘70s hit “Dark Lady,” a song about a fortune teller stealing someone’s man.

  23. Orlando Fringe review: 'Dead Body Friendship'

A first date goes from unpredictable to kinky to horribly wrong while testing the bond of three friends in Gabrielle Brown’s comedy “Dead Body Friendship.” Nerdy comic-book and sci-fi fan Ben (Tim Walczak) lets his buddy Franklin (Brandon Lopez) set him up on a date with sexy, pill-popping Angelica (Kimberly Bonny). Ben and Angelica are about to get hot and heavy with peanut butter in his bedroom -- but she dies before the sticky situation can ensue. Ben panics and calls his pals Franklin and Farrah (Madison Graham) for help -- but his chain-smoking landlady (Stefanie Lebowitz, with Busch beer cans as curlers in her hair) has seen too much.
