  1. Mainstream media control the outcome

I do not agree with the premise that this administration's goals include deficit reduction and immigration reform. The first is a euphemism for higher taxes and the latter, amnesty, when passed or a political point in the next election if not passed....

  3. Today's Buzz: Did Obama target Fox News?

The Washington Post reported this week that the Justice Department had secretly obtained phone records and emails for James Rosen, chief Washington correspondent for Fox News, in an investigation of his possible involvement in leaks of classified information. The department named him a “co-conspirator” in the case, though it did not charge him with a crime. The Obama Administration has been a frequent target of criticism from Fox News, and complained about it. Do you think the administration probe of the network’s reporter was retaliation? Or is this just a case of the administration being overly aggressive in targeting the media in general for leaks? It was reported last week that in another investigation, the department seized records of Associated Press phone calls. What do you think? Talk about it!

  5. Is Obama Richard Nixon?

Despite what you may hear from some of his more fevered critics, President Barack Obama's recent scandal-quakes don't appear to fall anywhere near the level of Richard Nixon's Watergate scandal. But by another Nixonian yardstick, trying to muzzle on press...

  9. FBI spied on Fox News reporter, accused him of crime

  11. Where have all the newsstands gone?

I miss the old newsstands once found on every corner of my morning commute. For blighted neighborhoods throughout the South and West Sides, they were hubs of the local community, where seers of neighborhood gossip knew all about gang activity and the...

  17. News of the Weird: Milk a Rattler!

The beauty pageant each April at the Rattlesnake Roundup in Sweetwater, Texas, requires traditional skills like interview poise, evening-gown fashion and talent, but also some ability and inclination to milk and skin rattlers. High school senior Kyndra Vaught won this year's Miss Snake Charmer, wearing jeweled boots one night for her country-western ballad, then Kevlar boots and camouflage chaps the next as she took on dozens of rattlers in the wooden snake pit. Vaught expertly held up one serpent, offered its tail-end rattles for a baby to touch, then helped hold, measure, milk and skin a buzzing, slithery serpent. A Los Angeles Times dispatch noted that Vaught hoped to be on her way soon to the Berklee College of Music in Boston.

  19. It's news, not espionage

WASHINGTON — The Obama administration has no business rummaging through journalists' phone records, perusing their emails and tracking their movements in an attempt to keep them from gathering news. This heavy-handed business isn't chilling, it's...

Previo al arranque de la temporada de 2012 lancé una maldición a los Angelinos de Los Angeles —y en particular a Albert Pujols— que aún sigue atormentando a los serafines y al slugger dominicano. Entonces, un sábado 24 de diciembre de...
