THIRD BASE
Steely Dan: Baseball operations chief Dan Duquette continues to scour the major leagues for pitching help in advance of the July 31 deadline for making trades without passing players through waivers. He seems confident that he can get a deal done in the next 10 days to add a dependable starting pitcher to the rotation. Whether that will be enough after the string of setbacks that has forced the Orioles to replace almost the entire rotation over the past month is an open question. It probably won't, but give Duquette credit for not using the pitching collapse as an excuse to begin building toward next season.
