Yankees: No team in baseball has homered more than the Yankees; they have 10 players who hit at least 14 this season. The offense is sparked by second baseman Robinson Cano, a perennial MVP candidate, Jeter, and Curtis Granderson, who has became an old-fashioned, swing-and-miss slugger with 43 homers and 195 strikeouts. But there's a new (old) wrinkle, too. Ichiro Suzuki, 38, has been invigorated since being acquired from Seattle on July 23. Since Sept. 1, he has hit .362 with an .862 on-base plus slugging percentage.

Orioles: Few clubs can get into a slugfest with the Yankees and have a chance to win. But the Orioles were second in the majors in home runs hit, smashing 214. Five Orioles had 22 or more: J.J. Hardy (22), Matt Wieters (23), Mark Reynolds (23), Adam Jones (32) and Chris Davis (33). For the first time in years, they have a solid threat from top to bottom.
