The locations of the fixed cameras aren't a secret. In fact, the city's Open Baltimore website recently posted their GPS coordinates. Here's a map.
The city first deployed speed cameras in October 2009. Drivers received warnings the first month. Since then, those clocked going at least 12 mph over the speed limit have gotten $40 citations.
On one hand, publicizing the locations might cut down on the number of citations and, by extension, the government's revenue stream. On the other, if drivers know where the cameras are, they're more likely to ease up on the gas.
