Kudos to President Obama for taking a forceful position on the debt ceiling issue ("Another cliff ahead?" Jan. 4).
Congress needs to increase the ceiling with no precondition in order to stabilize the U.S. and global economy.
As a businessman, I am appalled at the irresponsible position of extremists in the U.S. House of Representatives.
We have a long tradition in the U.S. of not negotiating with hostage-takers and criminals, and the president needs to continue that noble tradition in this instance.
