When (if?) the 2012-13 NHL preseason kicks off in late September, the Blackhawks will play home-and-home series against the Flyers, Red Wings and Penguins.
A summer of negotiations between the league and players' association looms as they will try to hash out a new Collective Bargaining Agreement and avoid a work stoppage that could impact exhibition and regular-season games. The current CBA expires Sept. 15 and the two sides are expected to soon begin what could be sticky negotiations.
If they come to an agreement before the start of training camp in mid-September, the Hawks will open the preseason Sept. 25 against the Flyers in Philadelphia. They would also close the exhibition slate against their 2010 Stanley Cup Finals opponents Oct. 6 at the United Center.
In between, the Hawks are scheduled to take on Central Division rivals the Red Wings in back-to-back games Sept. 28-29 and also have two dates against the Penguins.
Here is the full preseason schedule (all times are Central):
Sept. 25: at Philadelphia, 6 p.m.
Sept. 28: vs Detroit, 7:30 p.m.
Sept. 29: at Detroit, 6 p.m.

Oct. 5: at Pittsburgh, 6 p.m.
