An autopsy on a New Lenox Township man whose body was discovered inside his ransacked home Tuesday shows signs of blunt force trauma, the Will County Coroner reported.

The final cause and manner of death is yet to be determined, but Will County Sheriff’s detectives Tuesday launched a homicide investigation after Dwight Jones’s body was discovered in his bed in his home in the 13000 block of 184th Place.

Jones, 59, lived alone in the split-level home and had not been seen since Friday, police said. Relatives went to the house Tuesday night after Jones missed a family event. They found a patio door unlocked and the inside of the house in disarray. Jones body was in his bed in the master bedroom, where it apparently had been for several days.

Jones's gray, four-door 2008 Volkswagen Jetta, with Illinois license plate A234576, was missing from the garage. Anyone with information may contact the Sheriff’s Office Investigation Unit at 815-727-8574 or can anonymously report information at www.willcosheriff.org.
