Kansas Jayhawks head coach Bill Self was in town to watch Perry Ellis and the Wichita Heights Falcons torch Wichita Southeast 67-54. Ellis treated Self and the crowd to a 20-point and 15-rebound night. Terrence Moore chipped in 18 points for the Falcons. Reggie Williams of Wichita Southeast had 15 points to lead his team.
Wichita West was down nine points at the half, but the Pioneers rallied with a vengeance at home to beat Wichita North 77-62. Dontrez Washington and Daylin Thomas led the Pioneers with 20 points and 19 points, respectively. Travis Gantt was the other high scorer for West with 16 points.
Spencer Robertson led the Redskins with 18 points. The West victory extends its winning streak to six games.
Jante Glenn scored a game-high 19 points for Wichita South, but the Titans fell to Wichita Northwest 51-43. Craig Nicholson led Northwest in the win with 14 points.
Bishop Carroll was up 18-17 on Wichita East at the half, but the Blue Aces torched Carroll for 44 points in the second half to win 61-44. Jalen Carter led the Blue Aces with 15 points. Brian Rohleder was Carroll's top scorer with 14 points.
Salina South rallied hard in the fourth quarter to nip Hutchinson 56-54. The Cougars were down five heading into the final frame, but they outscored the Salthawks 18-11 in the final quarter to win. Justin Goetz had a big night for Hutchinson with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Geneo Grissom tacked on 17 more for Hutchinson, but no other Salthawk had more than four points.
Andy Wiechman and Cody Neberger were the leaders for the Cougars with 18 points and 17 points, respectively. In other Ark Valley Chisholm Trail League Division I action, Derby nipped Goddard 60-56 and Maize beat Salina Central 68-60.
In AVCTL Division II, Arkansas City rolled Newton 54-40. McPherson beat Valley Center 74-63. Winfield won a close one over Campus 45-40.
Trevor Torgerson swished a 3 as time expired to give Buhler a 72-71 win over Great Bend. Torgerson finished with 11 points on the night. Buhler was led by J.P. Lohrentz and his 25 points. Pratt beat Kingman handily, 61-34. Matt Swank had 16 points for the Greenbacks and brother Micah chipped in 11 of his own.
Cody McBratney scored 16 points for Mulvane as it won a nailbiter 53-50 over Circle. Jordan Phillips had a game-high 21 points for Circle. Spencer Jensen dropped 26 points in El Dorado's 68-52 win over Andale. Augusta and Rose Hill were tied at the half, but the Orioles prevailed 55-46.
Cheney used a balanced scoring attack to roll Belle Plaine 70-53. Travis Beilman led Cheney with 12 points. Belle Plaine's Ben Gooch scored a game-high 20 points. Jake Becker and Reed Hartshorn scored 21 points and 20 points, respectively, in Garden Plain's 59-44 victory over Medicine Lodge.
Collegiate thumped yet another Mid-Central Activities Association foe in its 69-34 win over Smoky Valley. Doug Bruton led a balanced attack from the Spartans with 14 points. Blake Jablonski had 12 points. Troy Smith had 18 points and nine rebounds for Nickerson, but it was not enough as his team fell to Hesston 51-46.
Ridge Foster scored 21 points to lead Haven to a 53-36 win over Hillsboro. Andrew Pjesky scored 15 points on five 3-pointers for Halstead and teammate Simon McKee scored 15 to lead the Dragons to a 56-42 win over Ellinwood.
Moundridge's Trey Unrau had a big night in his team's 66-56 victory over Goessel. Unrau dropped six 3-pointers in the first quarter on his way to a 36-point outburst. Austin Neufield did most of the rest of the damage with 17 points. Aaron Reimer was the highest scorer with 21 points and nine rebounds.
