Morgan Park's protest of its 60-56 overtime loss to Young in the Public League championship game Feb. 15 has been denied, according to Chicago Public Schools official Frank Shuftan.

Shuftan said the bookkeeping error alleged by Morgan Park — in question was the number of fouls charged to Young's L.J. Peak — was ruled to be non-correctable once the referees approved the final score and left the court.

Shuftan said the ruling was based on Section 11, Articles 5 and 11 of the National Federation of High Schools' rules.

Morgan Park claimed Peak was charged with six fouls, while the scorebook listed him with two.

Peak scored 13 points in the game.

"It is always something," Morgan Park coach Nick Irvin said after the game. "If a person's disqualified, he's disqualified. Don't cheat me, beat me. It was a good game, but if the man fouled out, he fouled out."
