Nevin M. Barkley, 93, of Somerset, died March 28, 2011 at his residence. Born Feb. 21, 1918 in Jefferson Township, son of John Luther and Verna Belle (Bowman) Barkley. Preceded in death by parents, first wife the former Hazel May Barron, granddaughter Kaitlin Baker, brother Roy Barkley, sister Pauline Barkley and an infant sister. Survived by wife the former Nancy Louave Crise to whom he was married 48 years, son: Rodney Barkley married to the former Linda Wickham of Somerset, step children: Robert Baker married to the former Kristi Rosseland of New Jersey, Cheryl Ann Rigo and husband Gene Jr. of Stoystown, grandchildren: Jakob, Brooke and Kelsey Baker and Hayden Rigo. Nevin was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II serving in the 7th Armor Division. He worked until his retirement in 1997 as a driver and mill worker for the former Singo Feed Mill. He also worked on the family farm. He was also a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church and enjoyed reading and doing yard work. Friends received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, Somerset, and one hour prior to the service at the church which will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, April 1 at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, Somerset, with the Rev. Elisa A. Osman Officiating. Interment Lavansville Lutheran Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Mt.
