Senior Expo heads into third year

"What a great opportunity, not only for the elderly generation to preview the beautiful facility, but to also have a one-day opportunity to see and talk personally with vendors in our area about what they have to offer in their line of business," said Craig Springer, Our Town's general manager.
Approximately 125 people attended last year's expo, with hopes for more this year.
"It seems each year this expo continues to grow and draw larger crowds. I am anticipating more than 150 for this year's event," Springer said. "We promoted throughout the area, and providing we have a nice day for the event, I can foresee a nice turnout."
Keeping the expo small enough to have personal interaction between vendors and attendees is one of the expo's appeals, Springer said.
"We like to keep the expo smaller to give our vendors a chance to directly deal one-on-one with each and every attendee," he said. "Using the Senior Life venue affords our vendors a great opportunity to take their time and detail all of the offers they have for our senior market."
Both new and old vendors will be on hand.
"Each vendor has something different and we have no duplication from these vendors. From financial planning to medical supplies, each has something different to show at their table space," Springer said.
At noon, "The Art of Love — An Inspirational Sharing Experience" will be presented by Alexis Michel Angelo, a wedding and event coordinator. At 12:45 p.m., Snap Fitness will be presenting ways to stay in shape and avoid issues that come along with the aging process.
"In addition to the vendor displays, well-known and accomplished musician Jerry Intihar will be on hand playing fan favorite polkas and a variety of music," Springer said.
Girl Scouts will be on hand to sell cookies. Free coffee will be provided by Starbucks and free hot dogs and ice cream will be handed out.
"Each attendee to our event will be given a grab bag as they enter for the day and we will hold a prize drawing for three gift certificates donated by local area businesses."
