Businessmen changes

SOMERSET — The Somerset Post 181 Businessmen will play a make-up Cambria County American Legion baseball game today at 6 p.m. in Bedford.

The Businessmen will not play Cernics on Wednesday due to Conemaugh Valley’s graduation, according to manager Bob Hay.



Trust 16, Boswell 5

SOMERSET — Somerset Trust’s Evan Sube had two hits including a grand slam Monday in a 16-5 Junior Legion baseball win over Boswell.

Conrad Stoy added two hits for Trust. Ross Dirienzo and Jake Heiple combined for the mound win.

Joe Fisher had two doubles for Boswell. Dalton Rice suffered the loss.

Somerset (6-1) plays Wednesday in Confluence.



Somerset 4, Norwin 3

SOMERSET — The Somerset Spiders U-12 Co-ed PA West soccer team beat peviously undefeated Norwin on Sunday.

Goals were scored by Emily Hay (2), Maguire Egal and Kyle Deaner. Assists were provided by Logan O'Baker (2) and Brock Crawford (2). Outstanding defense was attributed to Torri Bailey, Ashton Horner, Kelsie Musto, Kyla Clarke and Bailee Thomas. Taylor McCall made several amazing saves to secure the win.

The Spiders finished the season with a record of 6-2.



Somerset 6, Hempfield 0

HEMPFIELD PARK — The Somerset U-14 girls soccer team hammered Hempfield 6-0 Sunday.

Brandi Dickey and Savannah Schleich both scored twice while Isabel Sube and Meghan vanLenten had a goal each. Assists were credited to Chandler Marteeny, Madison McKinley, Hannah Sembower, Megan Law, Emily Lloyd and Shania Steinkerchner.

Somerset (5-1-1) goalie CeCe Pritts earned her third shutout of the year with defensive help from Savannah Gross and Samantha Thompson.



Jerome wins pair

JEROME — Jerome took a pair of games from Stoystown, 14-8 and 12-4, in Junior Legion baseball.

Game one, which was suspended due to weather, saw Jerome pound out 15 hits. Jerome was led by Mickey Sanders’ 4-for-5 day with four RBIs. Bailey Roberts, Jake Formica and David Yoder had multiple hits for Jerome. On the mound, Robbie Mills had 10 strikeouts to get the win for Jerome to go along with a solo home run. Tyler Wagler and Levi Brant had a hit and scored two runs for Stoystown.
