CRESSON — The Conemaugh Township varsity golf team defeated Portage 240-276 at Summit Country Club Wednesday to remain undefeated in WestPAC play.

Individual scores for the Indians (7-0) were Bob McConnell 48, Dillon Boyer 54, Luke Varner 42, Evan Steeves 44 and Austin Speigle 52. Varner earned medalist honors for the match.



Rockwood 5, Windber 0

ROCKWOOD — Charlie King recorded a hat trick while Josh Jones added a goal and two assists to lead Rockwood’s 5-0 boys junior high soccer victory over Windber on Thursday.

Cole Beener dished out two assists for the Rockets (4-1). Jesse Foy contributed a goal and an assist.



FH runs past Meyersdale

SIDMAN — Forest Hills defeated Meyersdale 36-19 Thursday a in boys varsity cross country meet.

Top three finishers were Forest Hills’ Connor Diamond (18:08), Windber’s Jake Polca (18:21) and Meyersdale’s Collin Day (18:29).



Somerset drops DH

SOMERSET — Somerset’s girls varsity tennis team dropped both ends of a doubleheader by identical 4-1 scores on Thursday.

In singles, Sydney Geary lost 8-3, Hope Brock lost 8-0 and Jade Pyle lost 8-2.

In doubles, Sam Howard and Ashley Eller lost 8-1 while Brenna Sawyers and Bailey Stinebiser won their match 8-5.

“It was the first varsity win for Brenna and Bailey,” Somerset coach John Harris said. “I’m real proud of them.

Somerset featured the same singles lineup in the second match with Geary and Howard losing 8-3 and 8-1, respectively. Brock prevailed in her matchup 9-7.

“As a freshman, Hope has been toiling at No. 2 singles all year,” Harris said. “She’s faced some tough competition. This was a very good win for her and I believe it will be the first win of many.”

In doubles, Sydney Vogt and Maddie Marker lost 8-0 while Kayla Williams and Sara Sroka lost 8-4.

FISHERTOWN — Chestnut Ridge defeated Windber 30-6 Thursday in junior high football.
