    <span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: 'Calibri','sans-serif'; color: #1f497d;">Founder of the internationally known Philadanco Dance Company Joan Myers Brown said despite her trailblazing, equality can still be elusive in the world of dance. Growing up in the 1940s, her dancing dreams seemed unlikely.&nbsp; Joan recalls parents not wanting her to be in their child&rsquo;s ballet class because she was black.&nbsp; In the 1960s she created her own opportunity founding Philadanco School of Dance Arts and a decade later the company.&nbsp; She said many major ballet companies are still unwilling to open the doors for minorities.</span>
