On September 10th, James Cameron’s epic Titanic will be released for the first time ever on Blu-ray 2D and 3D. I thought I would commemorate 4-disc set with a 3-part blog on my experiences with the Titanic. I am embarrassed to admit I bought a DVD...

  3. Russian Billionaire Has a Plan to Make Humans Live Forever

Billionaire Dmitry Itskov has a plan to make humans immortal using avatars, and when I say he has a plan to make humans immortal, what I mean is he has a plan to make himself immortal, because no normal person will ever be able to afford this avatar-based reality should it come to fruition. Nevertheless it’s an interesting idea, and not as far-fetched as it might seem. PSFK.com explains:

  13. Elon Musk of SpaceX: The goal is Mars

As shipments go, it was routine — about half a ton of supplies — except it was delivered by the first commercial flight to the International Space Station. SpaceX partnered with NASA in this new model, the brainchild of Elon Musk, who's behind Tesla electric cars as well. He left South Africa at 17, earned two U.S. undergraduate degrees and then made serial piles of dough pioneering online payment systems, including the one that became PayPal. Musk's persona inspired aspects of Tony Stark in the"Iron Man," but Musk's aspirations seem more like Buzz Lightyear's — to infinity, and beyond.

  23. DVD review: 'A Night to Remember' offers historical look at Titanic disaster

We're about three weeks away from the 100th anniversary of the Titanic disaster, so it makes perfect sense that Criterion is putting out new Blu-rayand DVD releases of the 1958 “A Night to Remember,” almost simultaneously with James Cameron's theatrical reissue of his version converted into 3D and Fox's Blu-ray release of its less beloved 1953 “Titanic.” (If you want a totally different experience, try the 1943 German “Titanic,” whose director Herbert Selpin was executed by the Nazi regime before the film was finished.)
