1. The Bourne Legacy

This might be the worst movie of the year, if you look at one thing – the cast. The list of actors in this are among the best in the business: Joan Allen, Edward Norton, Stacy Keach, Rachel Weisz, Albert Finney, Scott Glenn, David Strathairn, and Jeremy Renner as the Bourne replacement. I can’t even recall what his name was. Aldous Snow, maybe. Oh wait, that was Russell Brand in some other film. Oh hell, who really cares?

  3. 'The Bourne Legacy': A new super-spy nabs mixed reviews

Over the years, Hollywood has come up with a number of ways to continue and revive lucrative movie franchises. The James Bond films, for example, have swapped in new actors to play the lead role, while wholesale reboots like"Batman Begins"and"The Amazing Spider-Man"have started over from Square One.

  5. 'The Deep Blue Sea': Hushed, deft adaptation resonates ✭✭✭ 1/2

The Liverpool-bred writer-director Terence Davies is best known for deeply felt, meticulously controlled reveries "The Long Day Closes" and "Distant Voices, Still Lives" and the gorgeous personal essay "Of Time and the City." Now 66, he sees the past — his own and his country's — as a war between oxygen-depriving conformity and what another Terence called "the whole of life," in all its terror and wonder.

  7. 'Crazy, Stupid, Love' and 'Larry Crowne' emphasize the stylish side of the male makeover

When it comes to makeovers at the movies, the rules have always been fairly straightforward: Girls get a Cinderella story, while guys get Spider-Man.

When it comes to makeovers at the movies, the rules have always been fairly straightforward: Girls get a Cinderella story, while guys get Spider-Man. It's pretty much been that way since the dawn of the movie makeover genre, which authors Elizabeth A....

  9. Memorable male makeovers in movies

Although the makeover movie genre often thrusts men into padded superhero suits, the silver screen has offered up a handful of memorable male metamorphoses that required little more than a change of clothes, a shift of the shoulder and an attitude adjustment. Among some of the standouts:

  13. 'True Blood' recap: Season 5 premiere, 'Turn! Turn! Turn!'

Just how many subplots swirled about in tonight's season premiere? I think I lost count at 32.

  15. Class struggle and desperate love in '50s England

Terence Davies' film of Terence Rattigan's The Deep Blue Sea, a play dating from '50s England, captures the tensions between the stultified upper class and the lack of illusions of the working class. At the same time, it's a story that dramatizes the restricted position of women in the era. Hester, played with deep melancholy by a luminous Rachel Weisz, is married to William Collyer (Simon Russell Beale), a titled magistrate much her senior, and falls in love with Freddie (Tom Hiddleston), a former RAF pilot, and an engaging bloke with a cheeky indifference to the posh life she's been used to. It's a classic tale of a woman finding out, a bit late in life, what passionate attachment to a man feels like. When her husband discovers the affair, he leaves her on her own while stating that he will never give her a divorce.
