Beginnings: The rolling hills on which Jericho lies served as a sort of gateway between the Hempstead Plains and the forests of the North Shore before European settlers arrived. Although it once had an Indian name (Lusum, which may have meant ``the farms''), it was farther from the shore than most Indian settlements. Welsh settler Robert Williams purchased the land in 1648 from the Matinecock sachem Pugnipan. It was attractive to both Indians and Europeans because of a spring pond that supplied fresh water. The small farming community became a center of the Quaker religion and by 1692 the Quakers had named the community Jericho.  Show more »

The wind is whipping hard in the San Fernando Valley on this late-November day. Clouds threaten for a while, and then the sun comes out. And yet, the pavement in Jericho, Kan., is, as always, wet.

  3. TV Gal Is Done With Death

As the cliche goes, dying is easy. Maybe that's why characters are kicking the remote all across the dial and dying in a sudden dramatic fashion (just like my TiVo did last fall, but let's not revisit that painful time).

  7. TV Gal Sees Double

As has been previously entered into evidence, I watch TV like it's my job.
    Zap2It.com
As has been previously entered into evidence, I watch TV like it's my job. So if I have trouble keeping all the new fall shows straight, what will become of the average viewer? This new fall season is like the Noah's Ark of TV. There's two of everything....

  21. TV Gal Turns Her Attention

I think you all know I can be somewhat singularly focused. So I've spent a lot of time this fall trying to drum up support for "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip" (I know, I know, many of you think it's too pretentious, but I love it anyway) and far too much time talking about "The Class" (By the way the first "Class" support group meets this Monday at 8:30 p.m. If you were previously a member of the "Good Morning Miami" or "Freddie" support group, you will be automatically admitted. All other applicants will be handled on a case-by-case basis.)
