Conrad, a 22-year-old up-and-coming singer, can not only sing, but also play the guitar and piano.
Even so, it took him a while to get signed, and he had to travel to LA to make his dreams a reality.
“There were some challenges coming from a small town originally to Los Angeles where I don’t know anybody or how to get into music. I had to figure out how to make [my career] happen, how to meet the right people, and how to get everything to start,” Conrad said.
Two years later, Conrad released an EP, completed two music videos, and is about to release a new album and music video.
“I’ve always known somehow since I was a little kid that I had wanted to get involved in music. It was something I pretty much wanted to do. It was really scary when I first started working with the really big successful people [such as producers for Hannah Montana and the Jonas Brothers], but they were really patient with me, and I just adjusted to working with them.”
One of Conrad’s most interesting experiences was doing a live gig on television.
“It was probably the coolest thing because it’s so different from a live show where you can see an audience. Literally I was just standing with no one but my manager, band, and a few other people, and I performed in front of them instead of a crowd.”
However, this wasn’t Conrad’s favorite experience. He said shooting the music video for his song “Romeo” was. “I liked it because I got to go home and all my friends were there to be a part of it and all the people from around where I live. It was cool to get to shoot the video at home and have everyone get involved with something they usually aren’t a part of.”
Although Conrad feels a close connection with his hometown, he also hopes one day to go touring throughout America. He has only performed at festivals and has yet to tour.
“I think I’d like to give a concert in Florida or really anywhere. Anytime I would get to tour would be great no matter where it is. United States would be cool because it’s my home country and it would be interesting to travel around it. Europe would also be fun because they love pop music over there, but the United States, I think would be my favorite.”
His parting words of advice? “If you really feel in your heart that what you are doing is what you want, just go for it! There will always be people who will tell you that you can’t do it, but just go for it whether you want to be a singer or an attorney or anything. What’s the worst that can happen? Just work really hard and never lose sight of your goal.”
