  3. Biased press doesn't deserve protection

The IRS is constitutionally protected in the execution of its duties to collect income taxes. Reporters are constitutionally protected when they report fairly and honestly. The First Amendment gives the right to print the truth, not to print biased...

  5. GOP can't help overreaching on Obama scandals

Well, that didn't take long. Just as several genuine scandals cast the Obama administration in an unfavorable light, Republicans in Congress are already overreaching — with hyperbolic comparisons to Watergate, calls for special prosecutors,...

  7. City of San Francisco, worker unions protest Kaiser premium hike

SAN FRANCISCO — It's a trend many public employees can relate to: Health insurance premiums climb year after year, while at the bargaining table workers have agreed to kick in more for pensions, take salary cuts and sign on to furlough days. But...

  14. Obama Debases Trust In Government

    The Hartford Courant
Last week was amusing. There was the spectacle of advocates of an ever-larger regulatory government expressing shock about such government's large capacity for misbehavior. And, entertainingly, the answer to the question "Will Barack Obama's scandals...

  20. Online sales tax bill should be improved, and passed

The U.S. Senate recently passed a bill that would allow states to require Internet retailers to collect sales taxes on behalf of local governments. This bill has flaws, but they could be fixed in the House. It should be passed. I don't like the idea...
