7. Parenting 101: Don't give kids adult prescription drugs

Mayo on the Side: Broward news columnist Michael Mayo | Sun-Sentinel Blogs
As the father of a 4-year-old, the story about a Broward mother charged with manslaughter after allegedly giving her young son the prescription sleep drug Lunesta just floors me. I mean, what kind of parent does that? Throw in the......

11. 'Robin and the 7 Hoods' has the Van Heusen sound

Among other things, the new musical "Robin and the 7 Hoods" is a love letter to composer Jimmy Van Heusen. On first glance it might seem an homage to Frank Sinatra and the Rat Pack in their heyday, but it's Van Heusen's infectious melodies, found in "Come Fly With Me," "The Tender Trap," "Ain't That a Kick in the Head," "High Hopes" and 15 other tunes, that are the lifeblood of the effort.

15. Dog Blog: Presents can come in 30-pound packages

19. The Review: Inn of the Seventh Ray

I'm writing this in a purple font, the same color as the seventh ray, or so I'm told, which is why the napkins at Inn of the Seventh Ray in Topanga Canyon are violet. So is the bouquet of wispy wildflowers on each table. And years ago (the last time I ventured to the idyllic spot for dinner), so were the tablecloths. Way back then, I remember incense sticks stuck in the ground around the trees on the terrace heaving powerfully scented smoke into the air. And a rich flower child in a Chanel suit and bare feet with a daisy tucked behind her ear.

23. Comments & Curiosities: Giving some bank robbers a bad name
