AAUW to hold used book sale
The local chapter of the American Association of University Women will hold its fall used book sale Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday at the Arc of Washington County, 1000 Florida Ave. in Hagerstown.
Salem Reformed Church plans festival Saturday
Salem Reformed Church, at 13182 Salem Church Road (off Cearfoss Pike), will hold its annual Kids Fest and trunk-or-treat Saturday from 4 to 8 p.m.
The church’s clothes closet will be open.

North Hagerstown Lions Club holding fundraiser
The North Hagerstown Lions Club is selling Sheetz coupon books for $10.
The books have a value of more than $25 and do not expire until June 30, 2015.
The club is also selling the bonus book for $32 which has an expiration date of Dec. 2, 2013.
The coupons can be used in the Tri-State area.
Proceeds will go to local nonprofit agencies.

The Women’s Club, at 31 S. Prospect St. in Hagerstown, invites the public to its annual fall fest on Saturday, Oct. 27, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
There will be a table of homemade food, garden items and crafts. Also vendors, including Silpada Jewelers, Willow House, Cookie Lee Jewelry, Scarves, Dolls and other will be available for purchase.
Orders of ham and bean, chicken corn or beef vegetable soup will be taken in advance. Quarts cost $5.50 and pints cost $3.
Apple dumplings and country ham sandwiches are available for $3. each.
To place an order, call the club at 301-739-087. The food can be picked up on the day of the fall fest.
The Women’s Club invites the community to a Halloween card party and luncheon on Wednesday, Oct. 31, at noon. Attendees can play any card or board game and have lunch at the club. The event costs $12.

A fundraiser is being held in memory of Tyler W. Miller and Travis K. Curry on Friday, Oct. 26, at the Elks Lodge on Robinwood Drive in Hagerstown.
The doors open at 5 p.m. There will be a spaghetti dinner from 6 to 7 p.m. and entertainment beginning at 8 p.m.

All proceeds will go to the Kennedy Krieger Institute in Baltimore to benefit Adrenoleukodystrophy, or ALD.
