The Hagerstown Branch of the American Association of University Women will hold its annual fall used book sale Thursday, Oct 18, and Friday, Oct. 19, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 20, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the gym of the Arc of Washington County, 1000 Florida Ave.
The sale offers a collection of bargains for winter reading and for gifting, both hardbacks and paperbacks.
There will be holiday books, classics, as well as current and books of popular topics, historical books, biographies, fiction novels, informative nonfiction books, children’s books, and also a vast group of old and rare “collectibles.”
DVDs, VCR tapes and books on tape are priced at $2.
Proceeds provide scholarships to girls seeking baccalaureate degrees and to education programs at Washington County Free Library.
Habitat for Humanity’s Women Build program will host its second annual Longaberger basket bingo Sunday at The Improved Order of Red Men Tribe 84 in Williamsport.
Tickets cost $25 and include lunch and 25 games.
There will be tip jars, raffles and runner-up prizes.
All baskets are new from the fall catalog and include fall holiday baskets.
Each basket will be filled.
Doors open at 11 a.m., lunch will be served at noon and bingo begins at 1 p.m.
All proceeds benefit Habitat for Humanity’s Women Build program. You must be 18 to participate. Seating is limited.

Spaghetti dinner fundraiser planned
There will be a spaghetti dinner fundraiser Friday, Oct. 26, in the memory of Tyler Miller and Travis Curry at the Elks Lodge on Robinwood Drive in Hagerstown.
Dinner will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. with entertainment at 8 p.m.
Tickets cost $10, with all proceeds going to the Kennedy Krieger Institute in Baltimore to benefit Adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD).

Chicken and waffle dinner
The Maugansville Ruritan Club will host a chicken and waffle dinner Saturday from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Maugansville Goodwill Fire Hall.
The meal includes the chicken and waffle dinner and two sides. Baked goods will be sold.
The meal costs $6 for adults, $3 for children and is free for those 5 and younger.
Proceeds go to the fire company.
