She won the Funkstown Post 211 Legion-level contest, the county-level contest and the district-level competition in Woodsboro, Md., on her way to the state title.
She advances to the nationals, which will be held in Indianapolis, Ind., from April 19 to 21.

The state results were:
First place — Latif, Smithsburg High, Western Maryland District
Runner-up — Alla Abelwahob, James M. Bennett High School (Salisbury, Md.), SE Shore District
Other competitors included Megan Yan, Richard Montgomery High School (Rockville, Md.), Southern Maryland District; and Caleb Ulrich, Rising Sun High School (North East, Md.), NE Shore District
Alumni to meet
The South Hagerstown High School Alumni Association will meet Thursday at 7 p.m. in the media center. Items on the agenda to be discussed are scholarships, the annual golf tournament, and the alumni football game.
All South High graduates are invited.
The Kiwanis Club of Hagerstown will offer its final installment in the Travelogue Series Wednesday, March 20, at 7 p.m. in the South Hagerstown High School auditorium.
“Korea, Land of the Morning Calm” will be presented by Buddie Hatton.
Tickets cost $10 for adults and $5 for students.
Proceeds help support charities in Washington County.
